Samantha DePoy-Warren is an award-winning writer and photographer who lives in a little and much-loved white farmhouse in Farmington, Maine with her husband, Kyle, along with their beloved German Wirehair Pointer, the admirable Alder, and their newest rascal, Nikon, a German Shorthair Pointer who like his namesake, is fast and focused.

She has served as a staff writer and photographer for newspapers in Western Maine including the Rangeley Highlander and the Lewiston Sun Journal and was the youngest newspaper editor in the state when she took on the editorship of a weekly newspaper, the Livermore Falls Advertiser, where she won awards from the Maine Press Association and New England Press Association. In addition, Sam’s writing and photography has appeared in the University of Maine at Farmington’s alumni magazine, Farmington First, as well as numerous other publications around the state. Her photos of Monhegan Island taken for the Maine Office of Tourism appeared in the Sunday Travel section of the Washington Post and in newspapers around the country.

Sam’s venture into wedding photojournalism is a result of her and her husband's experiences in planning their own wedding and her desire to offer intimate and imaginative images to similarly inspired couples.

In September of 2006, Sam was accepted into The Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA), a professional organization composed of photojournalists and wedding photographers from around the world. What sets members of this organization apart in the industry is their candid, documentary approach – a distinctly artistic vision toward wedding photography. The WPJA grants membership only to the most talented professional wedding photographers in the industry–photographers who focus solely on using their photography skills in documenting weddings. In July of 2007, she was awarded a 7th place for Creative Portrait and 18th place for Ceremony photograph in the WPJA's quarterly international contest. And in October of 2007, Sam learned she had placed third in the Ceremony category of the first ever WPJA/BRIDES Magazine Photo Competition.

When not photographing weddings, Sam can be found toiling away on her Master's degree, reading celebrity gossip blogs, eating things she shouldn't, and romping through the fields and streams with Kyle and "the kids" as they scheme their next great adventure.

Sam recently started her own blog as a way for future clients to learn a bit about her and to see some of her latest images and for past clients (and her mother!) to keep tabs on her. Click here to view the blog.
